The Foundation for the preservation of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Works<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Foundation was established in 1996 by Vimmerby Municipality and the theatre park Astrid Lindgren\u2019s World to mark Astrid\u2019s 90th birthday. Its purpose was to create an exhibition depicting the life of Sweden\u2019s most widely read and beloved author and the impact she had had in various fields. The first name on the published petition was Crown Princess Victoria, and she was joined by a long list of representatives from across Swedish society.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

With the help of contributions from a wide range of citizens, businesses and organisations, and significant contributions from the EU regional development fund and the Swedish government – which donated a sum equal to that year\u2019s Nobel Prize in Literature – the project was made possible.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>

Astrid Lindgren Farm<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The Astrid Lindgren Farm was built by The Foundation for the Preservation of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Works. On 14 November 1998, the Astrid Lindgren Farm was inaugurated, and until the spring of 2007 it hosted an exhibition about Astrid Lindgren\u2019s work, her upbringing and her sources of inspiration.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The 100th anniversary<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2007, when Astrid Lindgren would have been 100 years old, she was celebrated across the world. Many books were published about and by her, exhibitions were opened on all continents, anniversary programmes were broadcast on radio and TV, commemorative stamps were issued – Astrid Lindgren\u2019s memory was honoured in every conceivable way.

Astrid Lindgren\u2019s N\u00e4s<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In connection with the centenary, a new major exhibition on Astrid Lindgren\u2019s life and work was opened at Astrid Lindgren\u2019s N\u00e4s, the place where Astrid was born and grew up. On 12 June 2007, Sweden\u2019s Crown Princess Victoria opened the new cultural centre Astrid Lindgren\u2019s N\u00e4s. Just before the inauguration, the Crown Princess planted a new tree, which can now be seen in the Vicarage park, right next to Pippi’s original lemonade tree. \r\n\r\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\u2018The whole world\u2019s Astrid Lindgren\u2019<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A new exhibition on Astrid Lindgren\u2019s life and work opened in the newly built Pavilion. The exhibition was produced on behalf of the Foundation for the Preservation of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Works and was on display until autumn 2022.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Astrid Lindgren and the Power of Stories<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 2023, it was time to open a brand new permanent exhibition, Astrid Lindgren and the Power of Stories, produced on behalf of the Foundation for the Preservation of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Works.\r\nIn addition to owning both the exhibition space and the exhibition, the Foundation awards grants to people who make a cultural contribution in the spirit of Astrid. \r\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Salikon Award<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Salikon Award is given by the Foundation for the Preservation of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Works. The Award is presented to a person or organisation in Sweden who, through their creative work for children and young people, promotes the spirit of Astrid Lindgren. The winner is appointed by the Programme Council of Astrid Lindgren\u2019s Vimmerby AB. The amount of the grant is SEK 40,000.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
