The oak grove

Oaks are mighty trees and a perfect source of shade in which to shelter on hot summer days. Here, visitors can linger and create. Arrange formations of stones, garlands of leaves, small towers of acorns, wreaths of grass… leave traces for someone else to find that can spark their imagination.

The oak grove – a room for invention

Invention is Astrid Lindgren’s trademark, whether in terms of words, rhymes, songs or games. She creates worlds where anything seems possible, where new words take shape and old words take on new meanings, where games can begin in a spring ditch and end in a castle.

” – (…) What have you come up with, Pippi?”
“A new word,” said Pippi, looking at Tommy and Annika, as if she had only just spotted them. “A brand new word.”
“What kind of word?” asked Tommy.
“An excellent word,” said Pippi. “One of the best I’ve heard.”
“Say it then,” said Annika.
“Spink,” said Pippi triumphantly.
“Spink,” said Tommy. “What does that mean?”
“If I only knew,” said Pippi. “The only thing I know is that it doesn’t mean vacuum cleaner.”
