The exhibition ‘Astrid Lindgren’s paintings – the art in her home on Dalagatan’, includes most of the paintings that Astrid Lindgren had in her home on Dalagatan in Stockholm, which will be shown to the public for the first time.
Diverse and exciting collection of art of different origins
The exhibition contains 96 paintings and is a varied and exciting collection of art of different origins. An icon painting that Astrid Lindgren received as a gift from the Russian head of government Ryzhkov is juxtaposed with Chagall’s ‘Le faisan’, a farewell gift from the publishing house Rabén och Sjögren. Original illustrations for Astrid Lindgren’s books are mixed with graphics, landscape paintings of Småland and caricatures.

The exhibition contains 96 paintings
Many of the paintings are original illustrations for Astrid Lindgren’s books. The illustrations include those by Ilon Wikland for the books about the Children of Noisy Village, Karlsson on the Roof, Mio My Son, The Brothers Lionheart, and Sunnanäng. Björn Berg’s illustrations for the Emil books and Ingrid Vang Nyman’s Pippi illustrations are also included. Other children’s authors, such as Gunilla Bergström, Tove Jansson and Barbro Lindgren, are also represented with their own original illustrations. The exhibition also features artworks by Sven Ljungberg, Sven X-et Erixson, Albert Engström, Ewert Karlsson (EWK), Hans Arnold, Vida Juse, Greta P:son Digman and Claes Bäckström, among others.
