Exhibition: Astrid Lindgren and the Power of Stories
Our major new exhibition tells the fascinating story of Sweden’s most famous and beloved author. Astrid Lindgren has influenced the Swedish 20th century like no other. She is still relevant today. She has given us fantastic stories, songs, films and plays. She has given us a deeper understanding of right and wrong. Our exhibition reflects all this, from her childhood, through the tumultuous war years to the current issues of our time.

Current exhibitions
At Astrid Lindgren’s Näs, the major Astrid Lindgren exhibition is permanently on display. Alongside this, we produce temporary exhibitions in the Pavilion, in the Vicarage and in the gardens. The 2025 summer exhibition, on display in the Vicarage and Garden House, is called Astrid Lindgren – Landscape of Imagination.

Visit Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home
Visiting Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home is like travelling back in time. Everything is still there, just as it was when Astrid was little: the harmonium she never wanted to practise on, the beautiful cushion she embroidered, the bed she was born in. Astrid Lindgren returned here as often as she could throughout her long life.

The gardens at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs
The gardens at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs are encompassed in a garden park created with inspiration from Astrid Lindgren’s life and writing. The gardens consist of various lush green spaces that invite you to play and explore as well as enjoy quiet conversations and a moment of rest.
Storytelling Gardens
If you’re curious about all the plants we’ve planted here, each garden room has its own wooden book with a story about the inspiration behind the work and the plants you can find there. There are many stories in the garden. Some visitors love to read and immerse themselves. Others just want to experience by being. Everyone can do as they wish; in the garden there are no obligations. If you need to rest your legs, there is plenty of imaginative seating; some benches are made of wood while others are hanging chairs on steel frames that invite a gentle rocking.

About our restaurant
In the restaurant at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs, we offer homemade dishes and a café selection made from locally produced goods. We want nature to be present throughout the dining experience and strive for as climate-smart a menu as possible. For our groups we offer both lunch and coffee options.
