A group visit to Astrid Lindgren's Näs

We at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs are happy to help you book a group visit with us.

Astrid Lindgren’s Näs is a destination and a place for all senses, located in the heart of the environment where Astrid Lindgren grew up. It was here on the Näs farm that Astrid Lindgren (born Ericsson) was born on November 14, 1907, the place that became the source and inspiration for her writing. It was here that she played “sickenblås” and “don’t-touch-the-floor” with her siblings. It was here that she jumped in the hay and listened to fairy tales in Kristin’s kitchen.

In the exhibition “Astrid Lindgren and the power of stories,” you get to know the little girl who grows up on the Näs farm and follow her throughout her life. You will hear the songs she sang in her childhood that inspired the treasure of rhymes she created, but also understand the despair she felt when she was forced to give up her son as a young woman. You can delve into the war diaries that provide a unique insight into both her thought world and everyday life during World War II. You can deepen your understanding of her political stance against what she saw as injustice. But above all, you will gain insight into one of Sweden’s greatest literary works and delve into Astrid Lindgren’s sources of inspiration and motivations.

In our gardens, you can experience temporary exhibitions, art, the childhood home that can be seen from the outside, and a film from inside Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home where her nieces tell the story of the creation of Emil in Lönneberga. If you choose to skip the guided tour, you can still get a glimpse of the childhood home through this film. The gardens, which have been created on the land that previously belonged to the Näs farm, are part of our storytelling. Each garden room has a theme that is related to something important in Astrid Lindgren’s writing or part of the environment she grew up in and was inspired by.

In the restaurant at Astrid Lindgren’s Näs, we offer both homemade dishes and café selections made from locally produced ingredients. We want nature to be present throughout the dining experience and strive for the most climate-smart menu possible. For our groups, we offer both lunch and snack options.
